with a variety of activities which further the mission of the
Indiana Horse Council. The Education Committee has several
subcommittees which help achieve their goals: Scholarships: The
Indiana Horse Council annually awards scholarships to members
who are pursuing higher education, and are committed to the
horse industry. Scholarships are available for students
attending technical school, working towards a bachelor's degree,
or in graduate school.

Horse Owner Workshops: One
of the most active sub committees of the Education Committee is
the Horse Owner Workshops. The Indiana Horse Council provides
grant funds for community organizations seeking to sponsor
workshops to assist novice horseowners in learning more about
management of their animals. This program has supported dozens
of workshops throughout the state of Indiana since it's
inception.

Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo:
The Education Committee coordinates the lectures and the
workshop arena for the Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo. Each year,
20-30 lectures, and 15-20 educational workshops are offered at
the Hoosier Horse Fair. In 2003, the Education Committee piloted
the "Horsin' Around at the Hoosier Horse Fair" activity. This
was an effort with the 4-H Horse and Pony Youth Advisory Board,
and brought inner city children under the age of 12 to the Horse
Fair to learn more about horses.
