Trail Riding – Fairbanks Regulations


 

 

 

Rules and Etiquette for Horseback Riders:

  • Stay on designated trails, do not cut across switchbacks, do not ride in open fields unless it is a designated trail
  • Safety zones, refuges, waterfowl resting areas and other restricted areas are marked with appropriate signs. PLEASE READ AND OBEY ALL SIGNS.
  • No riding during gun season for turkey and deer
  • Must have your Indiana Horse Council membership card with insurance to ride, 18 and under accompanied by Indiana Horse Council member are exempt.
  • Membership cards can be purchased from the Indiana Horse Council and they are good from January 1through December 31. www.indianahorsecouncil.org or by calling 317-692-7141
  • Leave No Trace: Be responsible. Pack out what you pack in
  • Riding is permitted from daylight until dusk
  • Horses may be tied on picket lines but not to trees
  • Overnight camping is not permitted in day use parking areas
  • Please be courteous to other horseback riders while using the trails

Fairbanks Landing Equestrian trails and day use camping areas is being operated under an agreement between Indiana Michigan Power and the Indiana Horse Council, Inc.

The Indiana Horse Council, Inc. and Indiana Michigan Power will not be held responsible for any accidents or deaths occurring from the use of these facilities.
