Trail Riding Venues
Interlake property open
Interlake, one
of only two Indiana Department of Natural Resources-owned properties
that permit off-road vehicle (ORV) use, is now open for
year-round use.
The
property, located in Warrick and Pike counties in southern Indiana, near
Lynnville also can be used for horseback riding, mountain biking,
boating, hiking, fishing, hunting, trapping dog training and other
activities. Operating hours will be sunrise to sunset.

Property rules
will be posted at four entrances:
- South entrance (main entrance) -
S.R. 68 (east of Lynnville)
- North entrance - C.R. 1200 South
(Pike County, south of Spurgeon)
- West entrances – C.R. 1300 South
(Pike-Warrick county line)
- Clutter Road (Warrick County)
Parking is permitted along roadsides
and at the Marion parking lot (adjacent to the north entrance road).
No on-site amenities will be offered at
opening; however, a master planning process is in progress to identify
opportunities for future property development. Public meetings on that
subject will be announced soon.
Persons who visit Interlake are required
to follow all DNR-property rules. Vehicles and horses are not permitted
on marked reclaimed areas. Camping and open fires are prohibited. The
Carry In/Carry Out trash policy is required. All off-road vehicles must
be properly registered. Equestrians must comply with bridle tags rules.
Interlake is for day-use only and is an at-your-own risk property.

Landing Equestrian Trails
Rules and Etiquette for Horseback Riders:
- Stay on designated trails, do not cut across
switchbacks, do not ride in open fields unless it is a designated
trail
- Safety zones, refuges, waterfowl resting areas
and other restricted areas are marked with appropriate signs. PLEASE
READ AND OBEY ALL SIGNS.
- No riding during gun season for turkey and
deer
- Must have your Indiana Horse Council
membership card with insurance to ride, 18 and under accompanied by
Indiana Horse Council member are exempt.
- Membership cards can be purchased from the
Indiana Horse Council and they are good from
January 1through December 31.

- Leave No Trace: Be responsible. Pack out what
you pack in
- Riding is permitted from daylight until dusk
- Horses may be tied on picket lines but not to
trees
- Overnight camping is not permitted in day use
parking areas
- Please be courteous to other horseback riders
while using the trails
Fairbanks Landing Equestrian trails and day use camping areas is being
operated under an agreement between Indiana Michigan Power and the
Indiana Horse Council, Inc.

going WEST on US-150 W / US-40 W / US-41 N / N 3RD ST / IN-63 N toward
CHERRY ST. Make a U-TURN at US-150 W onto US-41 S / N 3RD ST /
IN-63 S. Turn RIGHT onto IN-63 / PRAIRIETON RD / HULMAN ST.
Turn LEFT onto IN-63 / PRAIRIETON RD. Continue to follow IN-63.
Turn RIGHT onto CF 1150 N. End at Fairbanks North Trail Head.

Campground Regulations
Horseman's Camping
CRS (campground
reservation system) reservable rates apply
to Brown County State Park, Potato Creek
State Park, O'Bannon Woods State Park,
Tippecanoe River, Salamonie Reservoir and
Whitewater Memorial Horsemen's Campground.
O'Bannon Woods State Park
(formerly Wyandotte Woods SRA) has added
some horsemen campsites to the reservable
inventory in the family campground for
horsemen. These are electric sites and are
located on the right before you go down the
hill to the primitive campgrounds. The ITRA
will be building manure bins and putting up
high lines to tether your horses. The ITRA will also put in a new
connector trail to the existing trail to
ride out of camp.
